The Complications of Premeditated Murder
The death penalty is made very clear in this case for what we would call premeditated murder in the United States. The state of Pennsylvania has the death penalty on the books, but it hasn't been applied since 1999 in terms of an execution. Even as this trial proceeded in the federal courts, precisely because when it comes to this kind of crime, the federal government still has a death penalty statute. And there are complications here that demand Christian attention.
