The Origins of the Phoenicians

Biblos is one of the oldest, continuously inhabited places in the world. The phoenicians were unknown before they populated this area. There was no known great battle or migration. Names such as phoenic, antarados and biblos are greek in origin. They referred to their homeland as cunn which is likely to be etymologically connected with the biblical name for the levant canaaan. Phoenicians would write using their own alphabet, phoenitian alphabet. Experts cite the rigins of the phoenician alphabet coming from egyptian hieroglyphs.
