The Effects of Playing Games on Relationship Satisfaction
Study looked at Chinese women who were playing heterosexual versions of video games. The more you identify with that character, the more you feel like I'm the girl at boarding school and invest in this parisocial relationship to that male character. It's not just that I play the game and automatically it affects my romantic beliefs. Instead, there's this kind of step-by-step process where it makes me take my fake video game relationship a bit more seriously.
