What Is Rhetoric?

Rhetoric is really about manipulating people in their emotions and convictions to agree with the speaker. But it is for persuasion or making beliefs and convictions, he says. Gorgias: It's not just about democratic rhetoric, but it's about what way of life one should pursue. Should it mainly be power and wealth so that you can sort of be on top of the social heap while you're alive? Or should it be the pursuit of a deeper knowledge and justice which may cut against your own self interest?
