Introduction

The episode is worse than we think. After reflecting on the conversation I just had with our incredible guest, Nicholas Everstadt, I'm afraid the situation in our country vis-a-vis our workforce isn't going to get any better. He wrote a book that caught my attention back in 2016 though I didn't really read it because I had already come to a similar conclusion. It was called Men Without Work. His book is being reprinted because what just happened as a result of the lockdowns has launched an extraordinary flight from work and created a labor participation rate lower than anything we've ever seen.
