Zigga and his Hussites were the first to use hand-held firearms in Europe. He set up a makeshift fortress, bristling with crossbowmen and rifles on wagons. This was an effective way of defending against mounted knights who could not be stopped by ranged weapons. Ziska never lost a single battle throughout his entire career. The Crusaders made a very foolish error when they underestimated him.
