The Fatalism Doctrine
One of the chapters of their text is called, I think, against fatalism. It just felt so modern to me and very, very pragmatic. They're claiming that what's right and wrong is determined by what has the best consequences. So it's absolutely fundamental to their worldview to say the consequences of our actions are up to us. Therefore, we have to be devoted to this style that brings about the best sorts of consequences.
