In fact, a work is essential to human dignity. There are at least two functions of works. One is a source of income, obviously. But in this hypothetical snaro, machines could everything. Thate would be huge economic wealth. Then there is the second function of work as a source of meaning, dignity and something to do. And that will require a fundamental rethink of our culture,. what we place value on.
