The Role of Writing in Language Learning
Writing has often been seen as the result of acquisition rather than a facilitating factor. We simply use writing throughout our learning process, not just in a kind of write a big paragraph using what you've learned sort of way. Jessica Williams from the University of Illinois in Chicago describes it like this. She says there's three key stages in terms of how we learn and take in new languages: knowledge internalization, knowledge restructuring, and thenknowledge consolidation.
