Is the Word of God a Synonym for Scripture?

I find people who examine what happened at the end of Mary's life as late as the late fourth century and later in one case who are saying nobody knows what happened to her end. Why should I accept that that's true? Because it is not God breathed, and I don't think they were inspired as just a generic adjective. In my tradition we speak of my sermon as the word of God, but it's not the inspired word of God. It's not the Holy Spirit carrying the words.
