Samson's Story
The man known as Samson was locked in a cell dug out from the ground, buried beneath mud and ash. The papers said he had attacked a friend with a cutlass over a debt. They said he was a murderer, spared from hanging by the now dead Governor Mutett. There's no telling what happened to him after May 8, 1902. A booking agent from Barnum and Bailey Circus gave Sansa $100 and shipped him off to Ellis Island where he received new official documentation of his existence. His new home was built to look like his last one.
