The frequency of the air frecante cols is so fast you have to have a microphone that can ro c icredibly fast to beato capture them. Most animals vocaliz in very, very kind of low end of that range. You do get some amphibians down there, quite like all some mamals. There are some birds l in the jungles of hoan gine ar, these amazing birds called cassuaries,. But they, they vocea ives very, very low frequency. It so sometimes hard to pick outt calsevenon our microphones.

Insects humming. Birds squawking. Chainsaws buzzing? What does the rainforest sound like? Or the oceans outside of port cities? Is the world getting louder? And what can recording devices detect that our ears – especially mine, Alie’s – can’t? Acoustic Ecologist Dr. Eddie Game of the Nature Conservancy has asked conservation questions over decades of work in 20 countries, and even though his microphone for this interview sucked, his stories and wisdom are a pleasure to hear.
