Early on in the Holy Land their numbers are pretty small. Although some Western visitors, they've obviously got some prestige. The Cantor's Champagne comes over in 1125 and he spends a year or so with them. So while they are sworn enemies of Islam, the fact that they are based in that particular site is something that is occasionally picked up by the religious classes.
