Justice Returns Good for Good and Evil for Evil
A traditional view of justice is that good and evil should be returned to the sender. But according to jesus, in matthew five, this is not what the law requires. Justice has a perpetual tendency to undermine its own project of making the world better than it currently is. The key here is when you love those who are your enemies - that's both how you make the world just,. And responding to evil with what's good will also help those who are evil become just. In other words, we must fight against ourselves by seeding our society with grace for justice to flourish.
