Social role theory would predict that some of these preferences have been globally socially constructed. But i agree, you could take example such as sucker, right? You can say, is that an innate preference? Maybe we know that because of harmonial differences, men tend to be more interested in competition than women. maybe sports or sucker is a form of competition, so there might be something innate about it. Of course, you could say it is also possible that suckerbe came more popular among men in england when it started off and then because of process of globalization and diffusion of interests, it became popular among men pretty much across the globe. That's a possibility.
