When they get old enough to actually say do some chores around the house or perhaps get a part-time job, then I strongly believe that you should almost require them to do something. Even if it's just babysitting a little bit or mowing a lawn for a neighbor, they're earning some kind of income so they can get that value of a dollar and really know what that feels like. Many young people are extremely busy with sports or clubs or church, and that is great, but there's always time to dosomething.
