What Is Pelagianism?

Pelagianism is a heresy associated with the theologian Pelagius. St. Augustine and St. Jerome were two of the original four doctors of the church. They argued that human beings didn't need special intervention of grace to attain salvation, they could attain it through choices made by their own free will. In other words, Pelagianism reflects a certain sin of pride,. The kind of quintessential sin for Augustine and the beginning of all sin, for Thomas Aquinas.
