The Role of the Sage in the Age of Literacy

LA Paul: We can't use our standard set of cultural exemplars. The wise person, the exemplary person is going to look like those past individuals but also not like them in very important ways. All of those individuals are post axial and therefore they are bound to the literate the age of literacy in a very powerful way. And so I feel like we're confronting one of LA Paul's transformative experience. But we don't know what we're missing if we don't find those individuals other than in a purely negative sense.
