Can You Choose to Be a Certain Kind of Writer?
You can't like make yourself a certain kind of writer. You kind of are what you are, and within that you can do a lot. Some people lean more towards the funny part, and some people lean away from it. Both things can be great, but it's just kind of your personality. A lot of times I think young male writers have an edginess or some kind of anarchic temperament or sensibility to their work. And meanwhile, like you're a kid from the suburbs,. It's like you can't. Like conventionally educated and it's likeyou can't.
