The Conquistadors - A Short History
In August 1492, a man named Christobal Colón set sail from Spain and travels west across the Atlantic. His expedition sails on to Hispaniola, what is now Haiti and the Dominican Republic where he found the first European settlements. By the end of the year 1517, most of the Spaniards who visit Campitche that day are dead. So what do we know of the Europeans who changed the fate of a continent? And who were the indigenous people that resisted invasion negotiated with strangers and fought off barbarians? What was it like to live and die during this tumultuous period of imperial expansionism?
