What Do You Think We Should Do?
We spend a reasonably similar fraction of our national income, which is our national income. It's smaller. And the consequences are rather bad for our health. These things, you can't pull them apart and say that growth doesn't matter. Equally, I agree with the premise that other things really matter as well. The ONS also say today that the size of the economy has still not reached where it was before COVID hit. There are lots of other big wealthy countries which have returned to that level.
