The Shadow Banking System: A Source of Instability
Liv Menand was an economic advisor to the Fed and Treasury Department. She warned that even though Congress had imposed regulations on big banks after the financial crisis, shadow banks were largely untouched. "We've inserted a source of instability in our entire economic system that doesn't need to be there," she said.
