The Importance of Buy-in in Public Education
Sally Kohn: We're naive if we think that we can vanquish our ideological opponents and then still have common schools. She says the project of the left in winning risks making public schools even more fragile. Kohn: Public schools teach shared values, shared histories, shared culture. If they really are socializing rather than re-imagining themselves as cultural institutions, she says, they'll lose popularity.
