Introduction
The atonement is a kind of odd doctrine in Christianity. There are lots of different theories, and the theories tend not to be condemned. So what you end up with is a great diversity of things. The negative way to say it is kind of a mess. You just have lots of different models that people just throw on the wall, and some of them stick. But they're not really organized, and it's hard to see which ones are better than others.
