Women in the War - The Relationship Between Medical Professionals and the Common People

Many of the women who on medical rolls in the war did come from middle class backgrounds. And so they would have easily been read as middle class and especially urbanite women from the perspective of rural refugee or a rural origin soldier. They were young farm boys who'd been pressed into working or the military by those conscription gangs. I was trying to think through their eyes, like how would a young farm boy have experienced these women in roles that they had never seen women play?
