Schopenhauer's Favorite Style of Art
Schopenhauer's favourite style of art were the dutch realist painters. He writes they were the type of artists who brought forth this opportunity for negating the will and becoming the pure willless subject that they perfected. Psyche thinks the relevant thing about a piece of art is whether one can get into the mind state of the kind of care and attention to something so neutral and insignificant. And in any case, this is where schopenhauer brings in the concept of genius. Genius shares an etymological rout with the word genie in english, or that's gin and arabic.
