The Power of Affect Theory

Affect theory is a way of talking about things that so basically critical theory until the 90s was dominated. Affect theory came out of the sense that, well, but what about when that doesn't work? What about all the things in life that don't seem to be simply culturally constructed? How do you talk about those things without falling into the other trap, which is essentialism? So affect theory provides a middle ground.
