Is There a Big Design Up Front?

A lot of developers don't know what a big design up front actually is. I think because no one does that anymore. No one writes the 400 page design doc anymore. They're like, any design must be that big design upfront That was my job as tech lead at Stitch Fix to make sure everybody understood this and kept people at bay who wanted more information.
