In the late 80s, there was very little educational programming on children's TV. The Children's Television Act of 1990 put strict limits on how many minutes of commercials children's broadcast TV could have. That law is literally the only reason that Bill Nye and Beekman's World were on the air at all. Today we're in a world where once again, what kids are watching is crappy adult content served up by Nickelodeon.
