Ina maria lusardi is a professor of economics at the george washington university school of business. Her research shows that it's not possible to live and work efficiently in to day society without being financially literate. She says financial illiteracy, individuals not knowing what they were doing with their personal finances, helped cause the great recession. Lusarti was so struck by the sad state of our financial literacy she has become an advocate for fixing this problem.
