The Origins of the Gospel of John

Most people assume it's written by John the Son of Zebedee. He positions himself among the eyewitnesses to Jesus' life. His identity in the Gospel is really not quite clear. But what happens progressively through the text is one character who's known as the disciple whom Jesus loved.
