Homer is good at describing the way human beings are, or is it that he's given a model of how they ought to be? I think that he's got what you'd like to call a normative account. What I'm valuing is the certainty that one feels in the moment of that kind of activity. We've already admitted that sometimes you could feel certain and be wrong. There needs to be a project of cultivating in yourself the skill for having this feeling of certainty when it's appropriate to and now when it's inappropriate to.
