The Rise of Consensuality

Christianity invented consensuality, says one scholar. When we talk up consent whilst enjoying watching sexual abuse in our fiction it is going to be hard to resist something physically if you have been mentally rehearsing it. So the more we champion something in our hearts the less equipped we will be to resist it when we have physical opportunities. That would have been the moment when Roman jaws started to hit the kind of mosaic on the floor. That was revolutionary. It comes out of a worldview that says actually all of us have equal dignity as image bearers of God.
