olave crigolson is a neuro scientist at the university of victoria. In his spare time, i'm that nero science guy. I was with my lab in vancouver this past week and at a conference. And as i was sitting there enjoying this wonderful lebonese food, i started thinking about the narrow science of taste. So i did a lot of reading over the week end, and i found it quite fascinating. There's basically five primary tastes, sweet, sour, bitter, salty and savoury,. With savoury sometimes called mami because it was discovered in 19 ten by a japanese researcher.
