Is Lewis Trying to Say Something?

The novel is about hope being kept alive despitea complete absence of hope and reality. I think one of the things that lewis is doing here very fully is actually helping us to think about sin. It's a force that takes over us and makes us become something we don't want to be. But as lan is able to am to deliver us by, in effect, stripping away its power and liberating us. So it's a powerful affirmation of the ability of god to break the stranglehold of sin and enable us to become new people.
