The Interview Process and Talking About Yourself With Respect to the Art That Bothered Me
I didn't like the interviews where I was sort of being asked to compare the protagonist of the book with my own life, my own experience. It occurred to me I could invent a story and invent characters out of whole cloth, but still sort of imbue the character's points of view with my own point of view. You know, I just was aiming for something more traditionally fictitious. Everybody was respectful. I guess I felt that there was a desire for it to be about.
