In Dar Salaam in 2011, the country had one of its worst and most prolonged periods of power rationing. And so there was a great deal of popular anger against the peristatal electricity utility as this kind of deceiving force that promised modernity with one hand and then pulled it back with the other. So I felt like, you know, I was feeling that in your book too a little bit,. Especially where you talk about how these struggles over electricity became a key site for people to enact, experience and debate their social contract with the state.
