Climate Change and the Mosses
Mosses began a great experiment in evolution, the challenge of living on the land 50 million years ago. The proliferation of algie required huge amounts of carbon dioxide to fuel their photo synthesis which they absorbed molecule by molecule from the atmosphere. Without its thick atmospheric blanket, the earth began to cool and triggered one of the first ice ages.
