I think sometimes when you're stressed out, you want to control a small area. And there are times in my life when i'm feeling stressed, that i will do the best job that i possibly can at something because i find it diverting. I think part of what carm is, carm is running from this drama. It's been a really big deal for him to even come back to chicago and to deal with this situation. My read is that doing what you're calling a good job in that kitchen is the way to keep his demon dogs at bay.
