The Effects of Artificial Light on Human Physiology
A colleague of mine did some work at the Concordia Bay Station in Antarctica where there's zero light for certain times of year. And what they found is that their mood was altered. They wanted to go to bed a little bit later every night. Their reaction time on something called a psychromotor vigilance test, which is a measurement of alertness,. It's how energized the brain feels. Basically, they were performing very poorly. But when they put in blue enriched white light, everything improved.
