Peter Robinson set up on a quest to try and meet with fungalant people. His wife had found a scoop mark scar on her shoulder which she sent off to researchers in the U.S. who were looking for them. They eventually tracked down Bud Hopkins, one of the world's most famous debunking experts. The pair finally met face-to-face but it was serendipitous because he is very hard to reach.
