The Kitchen Sink Drama

The term kitchen sink drama is kind of a borrowing from art. Where is this in the visual art of the mid-20th century? Have you seen portraits of Amy? If I can put it like that. The term came from David Sylvester and he was talking about four men, interestingly, who painted what he called kitchen sink paintings. They became so famous that they represented Britain at the Venice Biennale - which is rather extraordinary when you think about it. John Bratby was the main exponent of this. And his images of kitchens are basically just full of awful clutter. His wife, Jean Cook, also a painter, appears. She's mostly just sitting there looking terribly
