The Importance of American History

"When you learn American history in school, it already kind of leans patriotic and a really uncomfortable way for those of us who grew up in a second culture," she says. "I don't quite understand the reaction of we want these white kids to feel bad about what happened before but there's nothing I can do about how I respond now." She adds that this notion that history always is like trying to talk shit about the US is so mind blowing to her.
