The Resilience of the US Housing Economy

One potential explanation for the resilience of the US housing economy is, as you said, in the US, it's so much fixed rate. So many people borrowed money at 3%. Now that you can get a mortgage at 7% it's much more expensive. And with these rates and if the Fed continues to increase them as it seems likely right now, that effect on the housing sector will be first to be really felt.
