I think it's just magical that we can teach ourselves how to find insights. I claim that every creative success is built on the ash heap of failed attempts. That's where you learn things. A mistake is made and then you look at the mistake and you see exactly what went wrong. It's not the mistake itself that's beneficial. It's the analysis of where that mistake led you astray. And then by analyzing that, you see it differently. Let me give you an example of this. Suppose that you're faced with something like writing a report or writing a paper. The best strategy that you can take is to just sit down and write a bad report. Just write it.
