The File System Monitor: A New Demon Inside of Git
Git was built for Linux, but the file system doesn't work the way Git expects it to. A new tool called FS monitor can tell Git about what's going on in the file system instead of Git needed to go to the file system itself. This prevents this really long tail of Git status groveling the file system and taking a long time because those operations are incremental.
