Vincent Gogre and Van Gogh in Arl 1888
Vincent Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo that discussions between him and Paul Gogre were excessively electric. The two men had been cooped up for too long together under the same roof in Arl, south of France. Vincent then we're told went home and cut the lower part of his left ear off before taking it to a local brothel where he was found bludded and imbed by police. He never saw each other again although they did correspond but not after that point did they see each other.
