The Battle of Trenton - A History of the American Revolution
22 hessians lay dead, another 84 were wounded and almost a thousand captured. The americans suffered just two combat deaths and a few light wounds. Washington now had five or six thousand men under his mediate command. Meanwhile, general howe was not going to take the attack on trenton lying down. He despatched eight thousand men under lord cornwallis to stamp out this burgeoning american resilience.
