Brain Science with Ginger Campbell, MD: Neuroscience for Everyone
Slowing and the Midbrain
The midbrain is in the middle of everything. Everything goes through the mid brain. As we first process sound, we are processing these ingredients on a very fast time scale. But as we move to other centres like the thalamus and the cortex, that timing information is maintained. Processing happening on the bias is more towards longer time scales. So this default system is often something that we're not aware of, but our brain just does it. I'm so fascinated by this because our life and sound very much makes us.
