The Declension Narrative and the Reparations Movement

The RNA did not invent reparations, but they deserve credit for maintaining the conversation about it. The movement for Black Lives released a reparations toolkit last year and there are some people from current New African organizations who helped shape that. Part of reparations agreement has included a right to self-determination. People, the descendants of enslaved Africans, have a right to act on their citizenship status. They can make a decision on that. It should be a part of the negotiations.
